Excellent book for people looking for Rottweiler information December 25, 2002 M. Byers (Phoenix, AZ.) 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
Of all of the books that I've read concerning the Rottweiler, and I've read over a dozen, this book is by far the best. The information concerns training, diet, health, history, breeding just to name a few. It really is the Ultimate for information. My friend lent me his so I could see if this was really the breed of dog for me. I liked it so much I had to buy my own copy for reference material. Good luck with your future companion.

I have had a borrowed copy of this book and I would recommed it to any rottweiler owner. It takes you from A to Z in knowing about your dog. I will be purchasing a copy for myself. I have a 31/2 month old Rott and I have enjoyed reading the book and comparing what it says to what I have in front of me (the dpuppy).
Purebred "Pink Papered" German Rottweilers! February 10, 2000 James J. Bell (Chamblee, GA United States) 30 out of 33 found this review helpful
To start with, the cover has the MOST handsome male Rottweiler that has ever lived. No other book on the breed reads as well as this text does. It begins with the breed history and goes through every facet of selecting, socializing, training, showing, feeding, & loving your newest family member! As I read this text, I was torn between staring (longingly) at the gorgeous photos (especially the pups!) and reading the involving text written by breed experts. The chapter on diet was especially detailed. Likewise, the chapter on Rottweiler characteristics will have you desperate to acquire a conforming Rott, because they are such an astonishingly capable animal. They can search for objects and people as early as 18 months old! They are not a nervous breed. They instinctively want a strong leader. A big step towards becoming that strong knowledgeable leader is to buy this book. If I was to have a complaint about The Ultimate Rottweiler, it would be that the book has made me turn-up my American nose at the thought of purchasing an American bred Rott.(maybe I'm wrong) I want a purebred "Pink Papered" (read the book?) German Rottweiler for companionship and outdoor fun. If anyone knows how I can purchase a descendent of the Rottweiler on the cover - please let me know - he is eye candy! I have three other Rottweiler text, that I purchased after the Ultimate Rottweiler - they were all relatively disappointing (especially the photos!).

A great book for the novice owner or experienced breeder October 14, 1999 7 out of 9 found this review helpful
I have many Rottweiler books and this one is one of the best. I especially liked the evaluations of the dogs and bitches and the ratings given by the 3 judges from different parts of the country.
